On March 5, 2026, the 63rd anniversary of learning from Lei Feng, the Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark, in collaboration with the Xi’an Wildlife Protection and Management Station, organized volunteer services under the theme “Carry Forward Lei Feng Spirit and Protect the Treasure of the Qinling Mountains.” The initiative aimed to translate the spirit of Lei Feng into concrete actions while promoting ecological conservation.

As a UNESCO Global Geopark, the Qinling Zhongnanshan not only boasts unique geological relics and diverse landscapes but also serves as a vital gene pool for flora and fauna in the warm temperate zone of East Asia. It shoulders the responsibility of protecting geological treasures and maintaining biodiversity. The event focused on volunteer services, with an emphasis on Qinling’s ecological conservation. Through informative displays, distribution of brochures and cultural souvenirs, and on-site Q&A sessions, volunteers educated the public about the geopark’s significance, wildlife protection, and relevant environmental laws. They encouraged citizens to care for the Qinling ecosystem, refrain from littering, avoid damaging vegetation, and minimize disturbances to wildlife. By explaining the philosophy that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets,” the initiative ensured that the spirit of Lei Feng took root in ecological conservation efforts.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from the public, who engaged with educational exhibits, collected informational materials, and eagerly consulted volunteers about ecological protection. Many expressed their commitment to adopting green lifestyles and actively contributing to the preservation of the Qinling ecosystem. During the event, over 300 copies of educational materials and eco-friendly souvenirs were distributed, significantly expanding public awareness of ecological conservation and fostering a social atmosphere of “learning from Lei Feng, contributing to society, and safeguarding the environment.”

Building on this momentum, the Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark will continue to uphold and promote the spirit of Lei Feng, integrating volunteer services with ecological conservation efforts. By mobilizing greater public participation in protecting geological heritage and biodiversity, the geopark aims to safeguard the ancestral mountains of the Chinese nation, ensuring that the Qinling Zhongnanshan remains a place of thriving greenery, clean waters, and tranquil wildlife. In doing so, the spirit of Lei Feng will shine even brighter in the ecological conservation endeavors of the new era.
