On August 31, the collective signing and plaque-awarding ceremony for university practical-teaching bases of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark was grandly held at the Geopark Museum. Guided by the Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Management Center and Xi’an Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Tourism Development Co., Ltd., and hosted by Cuihua Mountain Scenic Area, Xi’an Fanyi University and Nanwutai Scenic Area, the event drew representatives from more than 20 universities including Xi’an Jiaotong University, Shaanxi Normal University, Chang’an University, Xi’an Shiyou University and Xi’an University of Technology. It kicked off a brand-new chapter of in-depth cooperation between the geopark and universities.

At the ceremony, representatives from Xi’an Shiyou University, Xi’an University of Technology, Xi’an Fanyi University and other institutions shared fruitful outcomes of university-enterprise cooperation. They spoke highly of the geopark’s high-quality practical-teaching resources and well-developed supporting service system. During the event, the geopark signed cooperation agreements and awarded plaques jointly with over 20 universities to establish regular, institutionalized practical-teaching partnerships, laying a solid institutional foundation for long-term profound collaboration.

To deliver tangible results from cooperation, the geopark has rolled out a targeted “one-university-one-policy” mechanism. Tailored practicalteaching plans are developed to match each university’s academic strengths and teaching needs. It keeps optimizing supporting services including internship reception, venue arrangement and safety management, and has launched special policies for teachers and students from partner universities, granting exclusive access and convenience for field study so as to substantially improve practical-teaching experiences.

Following the ceremony, guests visited the Geopark Museum, rock-collapse relic sites, Tiandong Digital Light-and-Shadow Space, Heavenly Lake and other core scenic spots. They gained in-depth, multi-perspective insights into the geopark’s unique geological relics, ecological conservation achievements and strengths for university-local collaboration, paving the way for diversified and deeper future cooperation.

As China’s national “Central Water Tower” and the ancestral cultural vein of the Chinese nation, the Qinling Mountains boast irreplaceable ecological, geological-research and historical-cultural values. As a Global Geopark and Shaanxi’s only national-level natural-resource-oriented popular-science base, the geopark adheres to the philosophy that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”. Centered on geological-relic conservation, popular-science education and sustainable ecological development, it advances integrated cultural-tourism growth and science-educationdriven development. This collective signing and plaque-awarding event marks a key practice for the geopark to leverage its resource strengths, implement ecological-civilization concepts and support education. It also serves as a vital move to realize two-way empowerment through deeper integration of nature conservation, cultural-tourism development and higher education
Moving forward, building on this round of collective agreements, the geopark will give full play to its Global Geopark brand and national-level popular-science base platform. It will further down-to-earth collaboration with partner universities, focusing on geological research, field teaching, popular-science study tours, cultural-and-creative aesthetic education and international cultural exchanges. Efforts will be made to build a standardized, distinctive and exemplary model for university-local industry-education integration. Meanwhile, the geopark will make full use of Qinling’s ecological and geological resources, advance the integration of science and education, jointly safeguard the ecological and cultural heritage of the Qinling Mountains with universities, and nurture talent through industry-education integration. It will strive for win-win progress in the conservation and utilization of the geopark’s natural resources as well as university education and research.
