Tiejiashu tourist service center in Heihe scenic area based on Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark has built the popular science exhibition kiosk with a total area of about 380 square meters, which makes it possible to learn popular science and keep physical and mental health at the same time.
The popular science exhibition kiosk of Heihe Scenic area is divided into geology part and animal and plant part, employing interactive graphic text, physical specimen, experience model and local interactive multimedia to display the content. The vertical distribution of Qinling geology and Qinling vegetation mainly highlights the formation process of Qinling ecosystem over hundreds of millions of years, focusing on the interaction between geological changes and the evolution and replacement of plant and animal communities in this process, as well as the geological and ecological status of Qinling.
It is equipped with reception desk, rock specimen wall, insect specimen wall, planting specimen wall, scenic area guide wall, self-service movie viewing area, Qinling geological and ecological history interaction area, rest area, books and reading area, multi-function hall, souvenir supermarket and other sections, giving consideration to both tourist reception and nature education activities. Heihe scenic area is also the only Qinling Nature School in China. In recent years, more than 300,000 domestic and foreign tourists visited Heihe scenic area.
Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark is the first global geopark in northwest China. At the end of 2009, it officially joined UNESCO and was included in IGGP. Heihe scenic area of Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark is located at the Heihe river source at the south slope of Taibai Mountain in the hinterland of Qinling Mountains, southwest of Zhouzhi, Xi’an. Heihe scenic area covers an operating area of 7,462.2 hectares with more than 100 natural scenic spots and four scenic areas including Heihe scenic area, Houzhenzi scenic area, Damanghe scenic area and Dashugou scenic area. In 2003, Heihe scenic area was awarded “Eco-tourism Demonstration Zone” by the World Wide Fund for nature, identified as Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 2009, identified as the national AAAA level scenic area in 2014 by the national tourism administration, awarded the “National Forest Health Demonstration Base” in June 2017, awarded the “Most Popular Researching and Learning Destination” on December 26, 2018, and identified the “2019 China Natural Oxygen Bar” on July 18, 2019. Heihe scenic area not only plays an important role in protecting geological relics and promoting tourism development, but also shoulders the mission of promoting geoscience.
