On April 11th, the opening ceremony of 2021 Xi’an Mountain Climbing Season & the 20th Cuihuashan Moutain Climbing Festival were held at Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark, which would help promote the 14th National Games and build the culture brand of Xi’an as an ancient capital city. The event was held by Xi’an Culture and Tourism Bureau, Xi’an Sports Bureau, Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark Management, Changan Distric People’s Government and Xi’an Tourism Group. The event also invited representatives from eight universities including Xi’an Jiaotong University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Shaanxi Normal University, Changan University, Xi’an University of Science and Technology, Xi’an International Studies University, Xi’an University and Xi’an Fanyi University.
The geopark in April was full of green plants and beautiful flowers. Runners in red sportswear did some warm-ups before the running race. When the starting gun blasted, all runners started a fierce competition. The racing track was Tianchi road along which was unique landform scenery in Cuihuashan scenic area.
The philosophy of this competition was fitness for all. Runners needed to complete a running race of 6 kilometers and the best six runners from Junior Male Group, Junior Female Group, Senior Male Group and Senior Female Group would be awarded. Even though some runners did not get a medal, they got happiness from exercise and the beautiful scenery in the geopark.
Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark upgraded the four geo-tourism lines: Longjiliang-Landslide geologic relics exploration line, Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark Museum-Yifangyuan Jiutian Waterfall health preservation line, Tianchi-Ganqiuchi-Yuxiangou-Yifangyuan-Qinlingzhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark Museum hiking circle line, and Shibapan-Tianchi leisure and entertainment line. The upgraded four lines will lead visitors into the nature and to feel the beauty of Qinling.
