On November 3, 2023, Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Management Center came to Xi’an Hongjing Primary School, bringing a unique geological science popularization activity to students. This science popularization activity took geoparks as the main theme, starting from the evolution of the Earth and the causes of geological relics, showcasing the wonders of global geoparks in China, introducing the spectacular geological relics, rich animal and plant resources, and long traditional cultural history of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark.
Through rich science popularization pictures, professional and vivid explanations, and interesting interactions, the activity ignited the enthusiasm of students to explore the mysteries of the Earth, immersed them in the ocean of geological knowledge, and opened a door for them to explore the geological world. At the same time, the concepts of protecting geological relics, cherishing the ecological environment, and protecting Qinling have been integrated into students, and they have had a better understanding of the importance of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
After the activity, nine geological science popularization books - The Snail’s Journey to Home were presented to students. It was hoped that the seeds of geological science popularization would be deeply buried in the hearts of children and bright and beautiful flowers would bloom in the future.
