On April 22, 2024, the 55th World Earth Day, based on the theme of "Cherishing the Earth, Harmonious Coexistence between Human and Nature", and celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the UNESCO World Geopark Network and the 5th Asia Pacific Geopark Week, a series of promotional activities were held online and offline. The Earth Day promotion activities this time had diverse forms and wide coverage. Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark not only carried out activities in the urban area and its scenic areas, but also collaborated with 45 geoparks including Danxiashan Geopark, Yandangshan Geopark, Alashan Geopark, Funiushan Geopark, Zigong Geopark, and Longyan Geopark to hold theme activities in various parts of the country, further enhancing the public's awareness of caring for and protecting the Earth, guiding the whole society to establish the ecological civilization concept of "respecting nature, conforming to nature, and protecting nature", promoting the construction of a beautiful China, and jointly building a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.

At the Xi’an municipal government and Shaanxi provincial science and technology museum, staff spread the concept of protecting the earth, conserving resources, and respecting nature to the public through playing promotional videos, distributing science popularization materials, explaining natural knowledge, and giving science popularization cultural and creative gifts. Nearly 1,000 cultural and creative products have been distributed, and over 2,000 promotional materials have been distributed.

In the scenic area of the geopark, by presenting the geological popular science book “Exploring Natural Resources” to students of Tangfangmiao School, we aimed to enhance their awareness of protecting the environment, loving nature, and protecting our planet. During this activity, the students also watched the popular science film “Qinling and Cuihuashan Landslide”, which is a landslide wonder in China, and experienced the extraordinary craftsmanship of nature.

This promotional activity continued until April 28th. During the event, Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark and the other 45 global geoparks in China jointly carried out theme promotional activities, including sister-park exhibitions and interactions, online science popularization and challenge games, setting up “Global Geopark on the Stamp” check-in points, “Global Geopark Research in Travel Passport Check in”, “The Most Beautiful Earth Impressions” photography competitions, and other exciting contents, conveying the scientific, aesthetic, and cultural values of global geoparks to the public. The geoparks participating in this event spanned six major geographical regions: North China, Northeast, Northwest, East China, Central South, and Southwest. They had a variety of geological and geomorphic landscapes, including glaciers, deserts, colorful hills, Danxia, granite, karst, volcanoes, quartz sandstone peak forests, and Yadan. They spanned multiple geological eras, climate zones, ecological environments, and ethnic cultural systems, vividly showcasing China's unique and diverse geological landscapes and geopark culture.

In this promotional activity, Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Management Office organized interesting science popularization activities to help the public deeply understand and recognize the unique geological landscape and rich and colorful geographical culture of Qinling Zhongnanshan. Next, the geopark would continue to actively practice the concept of “praising the magic of nature, seeking the long-term development of the region”, and popularize ecological protection knowledge through holding activities in schools and communities etc., so as to deeply spread the concept of “green mountains and clear waters are as valuable as gold and silver” in people’s hearts.
