Research Activities on Nature Reserves Conducted by Shaanxi Provincial Forestry Bureau in Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark

 On April 9th, Fan Minkang, a member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Shaanxi Forestry Bureau, Ju Yanwu, Director of the Protection Department, and Hao Yunqing, a second level researcher, visited the Cuihuashan Scenic Area of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark to conduct a research on the protection and management of the nature reserves.

The research symposium was hosted by Li Wei, Deputy Director of the Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning (Forestry). After watching the promotional video of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark, Yang Jianping, Director of the Management Center, gave a detailed introduction to the research team on the management, protection, construction, and development of the Geopark. Zhao Hui, General Manager of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Tourism Development Co., Ltd., reported on the protection and utilization of Cuihuashan Scenic Area and other related work. The research team gained a detailed understanding of the fruitful achievements in geological relic protection, science and education popularization, communication and exchanges, re-evaluation and the future work arrangements.

Subsequently, under the guidance of the tour guide, the research team conducted on-site inspections of the Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Museum, Geological Square, and the main scenic area of the Tianchi landslide. They thought highly of the work in resource protection, cultural inheritance, tourism development, service facilities and infrastructure etc. After the research, Fan Minkang proposed the following requirements: firstly, to carefully study the Guiding Opinions of the General Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council on Establishing a Nature Reserve System with National Parks as the Main Body, and unify the ideas with the requirements of the central government; The second is to coordinate the relationship between protection and development, which is to develop in protection and to protect in development; Thirdly, further clarify the relationship between the geopark and the management entity, fully play the role of supervision and guidance, and promote the sustainable development of nature reserves; The fourth is to improve the protection system, formulate reasonable plans, and strictly carry out protection, development, and utilization in accordance with the plans; The fifth is to strictly implement the ecological environment protection regulations of the Qinling Mountains at the provincial and municipal levels, and safeguard the safety bottom line.
