From Nov. 18 to Nov. 21 2018, the workshop themed at the application of space technology in geopark monitoring was held in Guanzhishan National Geopark in Liancheng County, Fujian Province. A delegate on behalf of Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark attended the workshop. The workshop was held by Network Center of National Geoparks in Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences and co-held by HIST. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Zheng Yuan, director of the office of Network Center of National Geopark and attended by Mr. He Qingcheng, vice-president of Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences and director of Network Center of National Geopark, Mr. Long Changxing, honorary director of Institute of Geo-mechanics in Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences and curator of Li Siguang Memorial Hall, Mr. Hong Tianhua, executive deputy director of HIST and secretary general, Mr. Yang Xiaochun, director of management committee of Guanzhishan National Geopark, Mr. Qiu Qiaorong, director of application office of Long Yan Global Geopark and 35 representatives from other global geoparks in China.
The theme of the workshop was the application of space technology in geopark monitoring and provided space technology training to geopark workers to better manage global geoparks. The teachers were the key staffs from HIST and Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth in Chinese Academy of Sciences. Director Hong Tianhua gave the lecture on the basic knowledge and application of sensing technology. Researcher Fu Bihong gave the lecture on the study of geopark landscape by space remote sensing technology. Associate researcher gave the lecture on the technology and application of virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality. Senior engineer Li Xinpeng gave the lecture on the contribution of remote sensing satellite and virtual satellite ground state to the global geopark development.
