On December 7, the 2022 Annual Meeting of China UNESCO Global Geoparks was opened in Xiangxi, Hunan Province. The meeting was under the guidance of the Department of Nature Reserves of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, the Forestry Bureau of Hunan Province, and the People's Government of Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture, and was co-sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, the National Geoparks Network Center, and the Global Geoparks Network Office. All staff of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark participated in the meeting online.
The annual meeting was held for the first time in the form of online+offline. The main venue was located in Xiangxi. Representatives from 41 UNESCO Global Geoparks, 7 global geoparks candidates and forestry and grassland departments of relevant provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government) gathered online to share experience and seek the sustainable development of the global geoparks. Yuan Xiaohong, the second level inspector of the Natural Reserve Management Department of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, Wang Min, the deputy director of the Geological Heritage Research Office of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, Ma Yan, the vice president of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, and Jin Xiaochi, the vice president of the World Geopark Network Executive Bureau, delivered online speeches.
At the invitation of the Global Geopark Network Center, Zhang Dongwei, engineer of the Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Management Center, delivered a report on Optimizing the Science Popularization Method and Improving the Science Popularization Quality at the meeting, which was highly recognized by the leaders and colleagues both online and offline.
According to the requirements of the Global Geoparks Guide, it is the obligation of each geopark to participate in the global geoparks annual meeting. At the meeting, all the staff of Qinling Zhongnanshan global Geopark Management Center learned about the industry trends and more professional knowledge, made good communication and exchanges, expanded the publicity and established the image of Qinling.
