From March 6 to March 7, a team of experts led by Professor Tian Mingzhong of China University of Geosciences (Beijing), and a geopark investigation and exchange team led by Zhang Zhupeng, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Zhangye Danxia Scenic Area and Director of the Zhangye National Geopark Administration, visited the Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark for a two-day investigation and exchange activity. Yang Jianping, Director of the Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Management Center, led all management staff to receive the investigation and exchange delegation. Zhao Hui, General Manager of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Tourism Development Co., Ltd., accompanied and participated in the symposium throughout the entire process.

At the symposium, Director Yang Jianping focused on introducing the achievements of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark in science popularization development, team management and reevaluation experience. Director Zhang Zhupeng introduced advanced work experience of Zhangye Global Geopark in the staffing, the formulation of laws and regulations and the construction of science popularization facilities. The two sides held a heated discussion around the sience popularization development and the reevaluation work. In a strong atmosphere of mutual assistance and learning, Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark and Zhangye Global Geopark signed a sister park agreement based on the principle of mutual benefit. The two sides agreed to carry out comprehensive cooperation and exchanges in the field of science popularization, personnel training, publicity and education, and other aspects.

Then the delegation visited the Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Museum, listened to the vivid explanations, and experienced the magical wonders of the rocky sea and the barrier lake formed by the landslide in the main scenic area. The delegation was impressed by the geological wonders of Qinling and thought highly of the geological science popularization of the geopark.

At last, Professor Tian Mingzhong pointed out that this activity provided the opportunity for both sides to exchange and improve management experience, and the sister park agreement is of great significance to both sides. It was hoped that through this activity, the two geoparks would strengthen communication in various fields such as geopark operation, protection, research and tourism, and effectively promote the protection of geological heritage resources and the sustainable development of the geopark. Taking this opportunity, Professor Tian Mingzhong hoped that Qining Zhongnanshan Global Geopark and Zhangye Global Geopark would also boost confidence, do a good job in protecting geological relics and popularizing geological science, and tell a good story about geoparks.
