In order to further leverage the popular science education function, innovate popular science activities, improve the development level of popular science education, and promote the improvement of the scientific literacy of the whole people. Under the guidance of Xi'an Natural Resources and Planning Bureau and Xi'an Tourism Group, Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Popular Science Education Development Exchange Conference was jointly held in Cuihuashan Scenic Area on July 12 by Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Management Office, Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Tourism Development Co., Ltd. and Xi'an Qinling Zhuque Taiping National Forest Park Tourism Development Co., Ltd.. The conference was presided over by Yang Jianping, director of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Management Office.
At the conference, Jiang Jianjun, assistant general manager of Xi'an Tourism Group and chairman of Zhongnanshan Company, delivered the opening speech. He pointed out that the geopark has high scientific and landscape value due to its large scale, typical structure, complete types of landforms and intact preservation. In recent years, the geopark has given full play to its advantages in geological resources, improved popular science education facilities, refined popular science education routes, developed popular science education courses, built a popular science education team, actively developed geological popular science education tourism, and performed its responsibilities of providing public education services. It has effectively demonstrated the beauty of natural scenery, cultural relics and geological relics of Qinling Zhongnanshan, and contributed to building the brand of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark in the and tell the story of Qinling Mountains.
Focusing on the theme of "Let Qinling Zhongnanshan goes to the world and let the world know about Qinling Zhongnanshan", Zhao Hui, General Manager of Zhongnanshan Company, and Yang Guanghu, from Taiping and Zhuque scenic areas, exchanged and shared their experience in popular science education. Professor Wu Chengji, head of the Tourism Geoscience and Geopark Research Center of Shaanxi Normal University, and Professor Hao Junqing, senior consultant of Xi'an University of Finance and Economics and Qinling Zhongnanshan World Geopark, made a special speech respectively.
Next is the book donation. Xi'an Natural Resources and Planning Bureau and Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Management office jointly donated books for the special exhibition of "Amazing Nature, Charming Geology" of Cuihua Bookstore. Nearly 100 popular science books were collected from the other 40 global geoparks in China. In the future, these books will be displayed in Cuihua Bookstore for tourists to read. At the same time, in order to fully leverage the advantages of popular science education, the medals of "Geological Science Education Volunteer Service Team on Campus" were awarded to representatives from the eight scenic areas of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark.
Being a good ecological guardian and guarding the ancestral veins of the Qinling are the mission and responsibility for global geopark staff. Strengthening the protection and utilization of geological relics and promoting scientific research, further developing geological science education, and meeting the cultural needs of the masses are the original intention and goal of global geopark. Wang Chuang, Deputy Director of the Xi'an Natural Resources and Planning Bureau, proposed that: firstly, promoting geoscience education is an important and meaningful part of global geoparks. The second is to innovate science education methods, and strengthen the effect of science education. Utilizing the functions of the geopark museums and experience halls as science education platforms, utilizing technological and digital means to better tourists' experience and promote participation, and further enhancing the scientific and professional nature of geological science education. The third is to fully leverage the advantages of the geopark to create more high-quality science education content for the public and tell the story of Qinling.
After the conference, attendees visited Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Museum， experienced the "only in China and rare in the world" landslides，visited the ice wind tunnel and the Tiandong tunnel with wonderful digital light.
As a famous mountain for its geological scenaries and rich cultural heritage, for Qinling Zhongnanshan, this conference serves as a new point to propose new ideas, methods, and experiences for the development of geological science education in the geopark.
