On August 17, 2023, Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark welcomed a new friend - Linyi Yimengshan Global Geopark. A 9-person delegation led by Gao Xueyu, Deputy Director of Linyi Yimengshan Global Geopark Management Bureau, arrived at Cuihuashan Scenic Area, the core scenic area of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark, for a one-day inspection and exchange activity. Yang Jianping, Director of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark Management Center, together with Zhao Hui, General Manager of Qinling Zhongnanshan Tourism Development Co., Ltd., Xia Lei, Deputy General Manager, and relevant staff, welcomed the arrival of Linyi Yimengshan Global Geopark delegation.
It’s a pleasure to have friends coming from afar. In a happy and enthusiastic atmosphere, both geoparks held a symposium. At the symposium, on behalf of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark, Director Yang Jianping warmly welcomed the arrival of the delegation and introduced the achievements in terms of the personnel composition, institutional mechanisms, popular science education, re-evaluation work, and nature reserve construction and management etc.. Zhao Hui, General Manager of Zhongnanshan Tourism Development Co., Ltd., also introduced and demonstrated to the delegation the operation and maintenance of Cuihuashan Scenic Area, as well as the construction of protection and monitoring facilities.
Then, the delegation visited the landslide geological relics in the geopark, which is “only in China and rare in the world”. They experienced the magnificent landscape of landslide geological relics, learned about the evolution of Qinling, and the causes of the landslides. Subsequently, the delegation also visited Tiandong to learn about the new form of the combination of geological relics and technologies.
Finally, boating on Tianchi, the barrier lake in Qinling, Director Gao gave high praise to Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark. He believed that the excellent development achievements of Qinling Zhongnanshan Global Geopark were demonstrated in all aspects from management and operation, scientific interpretation, to team building etc. Both sides also agreed that in the future mutual communication and exchanges will be increased to promote mutual development and to contribute to promoting the common prosperity of global geoparks in the region.
