Based on shared conservation visions and objectives, on March 20, 2021, Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark and Shaanxi Taibai Mountain National Nature Reserve held a signing ceremony for friendly cooperation and an exchange symposium in the Yangling Demonstration Zone. This initiative aims to further deepen collaboration and communication between the two protected areas in the protection of natural heritage, scientific research, and public education, jointly advancing ecological conservation in the Qinling Mountains. Yang Jianping, Director of the Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark Management Center, along with relevant department staff, and Wu Xuntao and Long Lintai, Deputy Directors of the Shaanxi Taibai Mountain National Nature Reserve Administration, along with heads of related departments, attended the signing ceremony.
During the meeting, leaders from both sides introduced their respective protected areas and signed the "Friendly Cooperation Agreement." The agreement outlines nine key areas of collaboration, including: sharing policies, management objectives, and implementation methods of protected areas; exchanging management approaches and skills for natural and cultural resources; sharing environmental education programs and facilities, including youth science education camps and curriculum planning; expanding staff exchange and training through short-term programs or long-term affiliations; exchanging and sharing scientific research achievements; disseminating information on cooperative development and supporting volunteer organizations and institutions in promoting both protected areas; and sharing successful experiences in community engagement.
After the meeting, representatives from Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark, led by Deputy Director Wu Xuntao of the Taibai Mountain Administration, visited the Taibai Mountain Natural Exhibition Hall. Both parties further discussed specific cooperation matters and methods for future exchanges.
The signing of this friendly cooperation agreement represents a positive initiative by the two protected areas in Shaanxi Province to actively practice ecological civilization construction. By establishing this cooperative relationship and enhancing technical exchanges, the two parties will further leverage the positive role of protected areas in resource conservation, management, and promoting sustainable regional economic development. This collaboration will also elevate the brand value and public influence of Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark.
