A series of science education in public activities for the 3rd Asia-Pacific Geopark Week and the Bilateral Exhibition Among Sister-geoparks Event have been launched launched online today by Guangdong Danxiashan Global Geopark and Zhejiang Yandangshan Global Geopark to celebrate the 3rd Asia-Pacific Geopark Week and the 53rd World Earth Day, strengthen the interaction between sister-geoparks, promote the nature education in society and show the protection and development achievements of global geoparks to the world. The theme of the World Earth Day this year is that cherish the earth and achieve harmony between human and nature. 22 global geoparks in China including Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark joined the event, and the Global Geopark Network, Asia-Pacific Geopark Network and China Geopark Network provided guidance for the event.
The event was a live broadcast on new media platforms. Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark and 21 other global geoparks in China together guided audiences to visit global geoparks online with professional tour guide explain. Zhao Cun, the excellent tour guide of Qinling Zhongnanshan UNESCO Global Geopark, showed the landslide geological remains of Cuihuashan scenic area to all the audiences.
The event would last from 18th to 28th April, during which a series of science education in public activities including video exhibitions, online classes, interaction games, geopark featured products exhibitions and photography competition would be held to increase the geopark influence in the field of science education in public, spread the knowledge of earth, educate people to protect the earth and promote the sustainable development of geological and geomorphic natural protection areas. The event would hold the photography competition and exhibition together with the 6th “The Most Beautiful Mark on Earth” Education in Public Photography Competition to further expand the influence of the event.
The event is a great opportunity to discover nature and beauty, show the colorful geoparks and convey the concept of nature education to the public.
